Shelly & James’

Recommendations

You’re heading to one of the most beautiful, historic, and slightly confusing cities in the world! Edinburgh is a magical place where castles sit on volcanoes, pubs are older than some countries, and you’re never more than 10 minutes away from either a whisky or a rain shower. Pack a rain jacket, bring your appetite, and get ready to conquer the cobblestones!

SHelly Recommends:

Go see the Highland Cows — Otherwise known as Coos.
Snag a reservation at Dishoom if you like Indian food — it’s worth the hype.
— Stop by M&S for some Percy Pigs
— Thanks, Benji.

James Recommends:

Stop by a quintessential UK Pub for a Guinness — Don’t forget to Split the G.
Victoria Street — Winding, colorful street said to inspire Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley.
Get a Steak Bake at Gregg’s — Honestly, a must.

Other Notable Recommendations:

Edinburgh Castle — Go early to avoid lines; the weather is usually pleasant for walking the ramparts.
Royal Mile — Lively but not packed; explore independent shops.
Dean Village — Idyllic stroll along the Water of Leith, great for photos.
Calton Hill — Sunset or sunrise views; fewer crowds than Arthur’s Seat.
Day Trip / Golf Trip to St. Andrews — Only about an hour north of Edinburgh, drive up the coast for a more scenic route.
